MARCH BREAK SURVIVOR CAMP: Plants vs. Machines
March 19th 9am-3pm, $25 Ages 9-13
Hiking, wilderness lore, survival skills, good old-fashioned outside fun!
Bring something to cook over a campfire for lunch and 1 item that you can't live without.
Camp will be conducted in the KC Irving Centre Classroom and outdoors on the Woodland Trails rain, snow or shine so dress
appropriately for the weather.
Kids to be dropped off and picked up from the main lobby of the KC Irving Centre.

Growing Your Food Organically - An introduction to growing safe, healthy, chemical-free vegetables
April 14, 21, 28, May 5 6:30 – 9pm, KC Irving Centre Classroom
Fee: $99 regular $79 students/volunteers + HST

Join Rowena for this fun, informative and very accessible 4 week course. Subjects covered include how to prepare a new garden, create biodiversity, build soil and improve soil health, make great compost year round, combat weeds and bugs naturally and ensure that you have enough beans but not too many zucchini!
Rowena is an experienced organic market gardener, organic farm inspector and educator, who has been teaching this sell out course for 4 years in New Brunswick and is now bringing it to Nova Scotia. Ideal for people thinking of planting a vegetable garden for the first time, but also valuable to greener thumbed gardeners looking for ways to grow more in balance with nature.

The Joy of Herbs: Celebrating the medicinal, culinary, & cosmetic uses of plants

We invite you to come & experience the joy, beauty, & connection to the earth that our plant friends inspire. In this 8 week class, you will learn both practical and imaginative uses of herbs in daily home life. You will learn to harvest, dry, & store gifts from the garden and weeds from the woods. You will be able to delight your family & friends with culinary & cosmetic creations and to treat their minor ailments with simple herbal medicines that you can make yourself.

Herbalist Angie Jenkins has over 15 years experience growing, studying, and making medicinal, culinary, and cosmetic creations with herbs. She has also worked as a herbal/nutritional consultant for over 10 years. For the past 5 years, she has been teaching her own curriculum of herb classes and has recently developed her own herbal body care line called Sister Lotus. Discover the biodiversity in Acadia's backyard
Tuesday, May 4, 2010 AND EVERY TUESDAY until August 24 6:30pm, Meet at the Main entrance to the Gardens on University Avenue.
Join the Blomidon Naturalist Society members on a weekly walk to look for and record; flowering plants, nesting birds, fungi, butterflies, dragonflies, etc.
This is the 4th year of a long-term joint project with the Blomidon Naturalist Society to observe the changes in biodiversity over the seasons and over the years. Everyone is invited to participate. Come for one week or every week.
You don't need to be an expert but we need lots of people to show up to help spot and identify the different forms of natural history.

Weekly meetings in the potting shed Our group of garden volunteers meet every Tuesday morning from 9-11am throughout the season. Tuesday mornings are spent gardening, collecting seeds and propagating plant material. New members always welcome!
