Gardening with Native Plants
Everyone can help conserve plants and increase biodiversity by planting native species in their gardens. Plants that have been growing in a region for centuries are adapted to the normal climatic and soil conditions of an area and provide much needed habitat for wildlife.
A visit to the Botanical Gardens during the growing season is a great way to gain a full appreciation of the variety of colours and textures that our native plants can provide for a home garden. The Garden staff are always eager to share their knowledge of native plants and make suggestions on which plants would be good for specific needs in home gardens.
